About Stowmarket Chorale

Stowmarket Chorale aspires to make the joy of great choral music accessible to all in East Anglia, enriching the lives of our singers and community.

Stowmarket Chorale, ‘The Choir in the Heart of Suffolk’ is an ambitious, enthusiastic and friendly  choir, with a long history of promoting vocal music to a wide audience. With enjoyment & musical confidence as priorities for all singers, we rehearse on Wednesday evenings working towards three concert performances a year.

The choir is known for offering a friendly welcome to anyone coming along to try us . We believe the love of choral singing and enjoyment are key and rehearsal programmes are tailored to support and engage everyone as we work towards giving uplifting performances. 

We were founded in 1901, so 2026 sees the choir celebrating its 125th anniversary. 

We will mark this milestone with two major performances in Stowmarket. 
Repertoire includes Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem, the Gloria from Ethel Smyth Mass in D and a selection of Choruses and Arias from some of the Great Oratorios.
