Stowmarket Chorale is an ambitious and enthusiastic choir with a long history of promoting choral music to a wide audience.
Leslie Olive was our Director of Music for 17 years, combining the role with The English Arts Chorale and the Eye Bach Choir, and being the Artistic Director of the Reigate Summer Music Festival. His final concert with us was March 2018: during the period of his leadership we performed a wide repertoire in a variety of venues as well as our regular appearances in Stowmarket at St Peter and St Mary’s Church, the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts, and the United Reformed Church. We are delighted that Christopher Moore will be our interim Director until the summer, with an exciting chapter to start in the autumn with a new permanent appointment being made shortly.
The Chorale is keen to recruit experienced choral singers in all parts. There are most vacancies for tenors, basses and second sopranos, and a smaller number for capable altos and first sopranos. If you would like to see what singing in the choir is like, you can come to rehearsals without commitment for two or three weeks before applying to join.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from September to July during term time at Chilton Primary School, Stowmarket, from 7.30-9.30 pm.
If you are interested in joining us, please email Mary Payne, Secretary.
